Archives of European Construction Companies are opening.
The Virtual Museum of Architecture is taking stand in the “Arching” project under responsibilty of French IN VISU group, which is also responsible for Musomed and Isthme Projects, with Ecomusée du Bois-du-Luc (Belgium), Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine (France), Florance University Urban ve Architecture History Department (Italy).
Arching Project aims to sensitize, search, protect and assess the archives of 19.th and 20.th century building construction and public works companies, within the context of sensitizing and recognizing of common European Cultural Heritage with the support of the Culture Programme of the European Union with the support of the Culture Programme of the European Union.
The main goals of the Project; - Supporting the intercultural communication in Europe by networking between European (France, Belgium, Italy, Turkey) experts of preservation and research area.
- Recognizing the common European Cultural heritage by courtesy of researches.
- Protecting European Heritage and render attainable for all people concerned by courtesy of using latest Technologies.
- Assessing and effusing European heritage;ensuring international circulation via communication activites, exhibitions and advertisement tools for this heritage.
Protecting the architectural archives in Europe has dissimilarity according to countries, beside that, Many archives are in distress especially by reason of closing construction companies.The first base of the project contains making inventory about archives of companies which had operations in southeast area of the Mediterranean.
Turkey matters of great importance to other partners’ archives by his history and location at the area.It is taking space as an interface between Mediterranean Countries which are producing areas of European Contruction Firms.The Museum of Architecture will ensure that architects, students, historian, historian of art, engineers, technician but beyond that who are interesting with the topic, can reach the archives, with the virtual exhibition that will prepared.
Arching:European Construction Archives Project, supported by EU Commision, will accomplish in accordance with 2007-2013 Culture Programme between June 2010 – May 2012 years.
