CAHIDE TAMER: THE WOMAN, THE ARCHITECT, THE RESTORER...
Curator: Derya Nuket Ozer Cahide Tamer(1915-December 2005) a pioneer in many of the developments which took place immediately after the founding of the Turkish Republic. She was one of the first women architects in Turkey. Further to this, she was one of the first architects to work on repairs to historical buildings which was a very new item on the agenda in Turkey at that time. Her signature can be seen on works such as the restoration at Yedikule and Rumelihisar. In this exhibition, the Architectural Museum gives space to an interview given by the architect and photographs from her archives. One of Tamer's important characteristics is the possession of an excellent and complete home archive consisting of writings concerning her work, as well as drawings and photographs, all of which can be accessed. A section of these has been published in her several books.

Cahide Tamer began to study Drawing and Decorative Arts at the Istanbul Academy of Fine Arts at the beginning of the 1930s but switched to study Architecture.
