Cahide Tamer: The Woman, The Architect, The Restorer... | Reflections from the Photo Album

Cahide Tamer began to study Drawing and Decorative Arts at the Istanbul Academy of Fine Arts at the beginning of the 1930s but switched to study Architecture. She entered the Academy as a young mother and graduated as one of the first women architects in Turkey. The advancement she made in her profession won the admiration of her teachers, colleagues and friends. The success story of Tamer's life is an exciting example of the struggle carried on by pioneering women in Turkey.
