ARCHITECT KEMALEDDIN: A LIFE AT ONE OF HISTORY'S TURNING POINTS (1870-1927) |
1911 Third Foundation Han Beyoglu
This was a product of Urguplu Hayri Efendi’s transformation project built on the land occupied by Kuloğlu Mustafa Bey’s Kuloğlu Mosque commissioned in 1602 and the adjacent Hacı Ferhad Aga’s elementary-school.
In the structure designed as a six-storey, nine-flat brick arch floor apartment, by placing two flats on each floor high revenue and a standard conforming to the norms of the era were ensured.
Not only in the plans of this design but also on the facade Kemaleddin Bey made a stylistic choice that he considered to be more in tune with the architectural morphology of Beyoglu using end of the century eclectic style elements.
