ARCHITECT KEMALEDDIN: A LIFE AT ONE OF HISTORY'S TURNING POINTS (1870-1927) |
1925-1927 Second Foundation Apartment Ankara
It was designed in the years 1926-1927 as a multi-storey residential building for rent, although after a time it lost this function.
The seven-story building was constructed using the reinforced concrete carcass system.
All surfaces were rendered to give the appearance of cut stone, and there was very little decoration on the building grouted with horizontal lines. The circular balconies spilling over the four corners of the building round off its edges creating an extremely original plastic texture. The muqarnas headed columns added to this modernist texture produce an interesting contrast.
