ARCHITECT KEMALEDDIN: A LIFE AT ONE OF HISTORY'S TURNING POINTS (1870-1927) |
1901 Sadrazam Ahmed Cevad Pasha Tomb Fatih
The dome covering the square plan tomb is supported by eight octagonal columns. The transformation of a square plan into an octagonal baldachin is a unique design.
The inscription carved into the right hand face of the projection of the main portal says: Work of Architect Kemaleddin and Mehmed Fevzi. Of all Kemaleddin Bey’s works this is the only example where the architect’s name appears in an inscription.
