Temelli (Samutlu) Model Village | Conservation

Temelli has an important representative place in the social policies of the War of Liberation and the "Founding of the Republic" era. The acceleration of Temelli model village’s transformation from a rural area to an urban area when it took the first step towards becoming a municipality in 2005 constitutes a threat to as well as hope for the future of the settlement. It brings hope because growth of the population and the economy will raise the standard of social and health services for the residents of the town, and increase the value of property within and around the residential project. On the other hand, it constitutes a threat because metropolitan development and its tool, the building plan, have been executed without debating the effect on the residents of the Temelli settlement and the outcome. They have no knowledge of the situation. Accordingly, the wind of change may have a destructive effect considering the rapid population growth in the town and the fact that decisions are made in isolation without taking the future hopes and desires of the town’s population into account.
