Temnos Theatre

İzmir, Menemen, Görece Bay

On the as yet unexcavated site can be seen well-like hollows of a depth of 6-7 metres made by treasure hunters. Although Temnos theatre is overgrown with oak trees, it is possible to observe in places radial steps and rows of seats curving around the orchestra that have risen above the earth. The koilon of the theatre is clearly delineated. It is an example of an theatre from a very early period. The decorative work on the sides of the radial ways resemble those of Erythrai theatre in Ildırı. The koilon rests completely on the slope. It can be understood from the remains that there were columns at the front of the scene.

The seating capacity of the amphitheatre is estimated as being 2,800.
