Pinara Theatre

Muğla, Fethiye, Minare village

Pınara theatre has a completely natural structure. The rows in the cavea nestle into the slope at a gradient of 30 degrees, integrated with nature, and for this reason it is still in good condition. The ruins of the stage building are in place. The theatre looks west from the eastern hill of the city. This Lycian theatre with a characteristically Greek form bears traces or renovations carried out in the Roman era. The row ends are inserted into specially carved grooves in the supporting walls without the use of plaster. The stage building of the single level theatre has the shape of a long, narrow rectangle measuring 95 feet by 12 feet. The orchestra has a radius of 25 feet. The walkways between the stage building and the cavea reaching the orchestra area are 10 feet wide. The remains of the entry gates of these ways are still in place. There are 25 rows in the cavea, which has a total of 10 radial stairways.

Measurements taken on site indicate that Pınara theatre has a capacity of approximately 2,000 people.
