Philadeiphia Theatre
|
Manisa, Alaşehir
The theatre is on the slope of the hill facing the city of Alaşehir. The structure is 293 meters above sea level. It faces southwest. The road for vehicles cutting through the cavea is to provide access to the recreation area above the theatre. The municipality has constructed a building in the orchestra pit. The arched rooms of the stage building have mostly survived and are under the earth. Not a single stone from a bench remains with the exception of a piece of a seat with a backboard. The arched design below the stage building resembles that of Lower Balboura theatre. It can be seen from the dimensions of the cavea that it was a large structure. No archaeological excavations have been conducted.
