Olympos theatre bears characteristics of the Roman Era. The theatre is a hemisphere with vaulted entrances opening onto the orchestra arena from both sides. The theatre was built by carving a rocky hillside. The theatre is on the slope to the right of Akdere, which flows through the middle of the city, when facing the sea. Lions’ paws are carved into the edges of the radial stairways of the theatre. This two-levelled theatre has a total number of 21 rows of benches. The first level has five radial stairways and the second level has nine. One of the vaulted entrances on the left is completely intact. Most of the rows of benches are under the earth and overgrown with trees. The first level has 10 rows of benches and the second level has 11, while the radius of the orchestra is 30 feet. The height of the stage edifice must have been approximately 40 feet. The cavea, most of which rests on the hillside it is carved into, is encircled on both sides with supporting walls.
Olympos theatre has an approximate seating capacity of 5,000.
