Oinoanda Theatre

Muğla, Fethiye, İncealiler Village

Oinoanda Theatre is outside the city walls and faces south. Oinoanda is a city that was settled from the middle of the second millennium BC. This city was a member of the Lycian League of Four together with Cibyra, Boubon and Balboura. The theatre, which leans into the slope of a hill rising from the plain, was damaged in an earthquake in 141 AD. The theatre has features characteristic of the early period of theatres. It has a separate stage building and a cavea with an angle greater than 180 degrees. The stairways are carved after the rows of benches. The ruins of the stage building are in place.

The theatre has a total of 21 rows. There are 12 radial stairways. It has a single level. According to measurements taken on site, the theatre has an approximate capacity of 1,800 people.
