Muğla, Marmaris, small island in the bay of Gökova.
The ruins of the city of Kedrai are on a little island no more than eight hundred metres at its longest point.
The theatre faces the northwest of the island. It is outside the city walls. Located five metres above sea level, the theatre is on the coast facing the bay. Right next to it is the temple of the protector of the theatre, the god Dionysus. The structure has 16 visible rows of benches. It can be estimated from the gradient that the two top rows on the left have toppled down and been destroyed. If the two rows which are still underground at the edge of the stage are also added in, it can be concluded that it could be a theatre with 20 rows of benches. The theatre on Kedrai Island is a single tiered theatre. There are eight radial ways. The stage building must have been about 16 feet high.
In spite of the sign at the entrance claiming that it could seat 5,000, measurements carried out on site showed that it could hold about 2,000 people.
