İzmir, Çeşme, Ildırı
The theatre consists of two levels and a single circular walkway. The decorations at the edge of the radial stairways bear a resemblance to the decorative work at the edge of the steps at Temnos theatre to the north east of Menemen. The radius of the orchestra is 31 feet and 5 inches. In the first level below the central walkway there may have been around 24 rows, and in the upper level there may have been ten. There must have been eight radial ways in the first level and 15 in the second. On its completion, the height of the stage building must have been 42 feet. When this theatre was first built in the early period, in common with Halicarnassus theatre in Bodrum, the rows of seats were completely set into the slope, but the cavea is acknowledged to have been enlarged in the Roman era by adding a section to both edges supported by walls. Restoration work was carried out at the time of the Roman emperor Hadrian. It is one of the first theatres in Anatolia.
The theatre is estimated to have a seating capacity of approximately 5,000 people.
