Blaundos Theatre

Uşak, Ulubey, Sülümenli Village

Blaundos theatre, built outside the city walls that surround a hill, faces southeast from 674 meters above sea level. The structure is on the south slope of the hill sheltered from the north wind. Fine workmanship can be seen in the benches arranged in rows on the left hand side of the cavea. The lions’ claws decorating the row ends give the impression that renovation was carried out in the Roman era. It is a long, thin theatre with a single level. The orchestra has a width of 32 feet. Considering the dimensions of the cavea, the4 theatre must have had a total of approximately 20 rows. The ruins of the stage building are heaped up on the site. The height of the stage building may be around 42 feet. No excavations have been carried out to date.

It has a capacity for approximately 1,800 people.
