Arycanda Theatre

Arycanda is in the forest on a steep slope 800 meters above sea level. It is thought to have been built in around the first century BC to the first century AD. The theatre was made at a gradient of 30 degrees by carving into a rocky slope. The cavea is greater than 180 degrees, as seen in theatres of the indigenous Anatolian peoples pre-dating engineering of the Roman Empire. The theatre consists of a single storey and there is no horizontal central walkway. The decorations at the edge of the stairs can also be seen at the edge of the steps in the stadium. The orchestra has a radius of 27 feet. The stage building is estimated as being 38 feet high. There are eight radial stairways and a total of 21 rows. The theatre has a capacity of 2,000 people
