Arpasa / Harpasa Theatre
|
Aydın, Nazilli, Esen village (Arpaz)
Arpasa theatre is outside the walls of the ancient city on a hill overlooking the village. The drinking water storage tank and the valve room of the village are buried in the orchestra area of the theatre. A few of the benches from the cavea are out in the open. These benches resemble those of the theatre of Piginda, which is located in the same valley within the borders of Çamlıdere Village. Traces of the central walkway of the two level theatre and the boundaries of the second level are distinct. Although an exact estimate cannot be made due to the fact that excavations have not been conducted in this theatre with 7 radial walkways, it can be said to have a capacity of approximately 2,500 people.
