Alinda Theatre

The town of Karpuzlu is located on the ruins of the early age Carian city of Alinda. On top of the hill there is a theatre with two levels.
There are 12 rows in the first level of the south facing theatre and 15 rows in the second level. In the first level there are six stepped radial ways and in the second there are eleven. Some pieces of the floor covering stones on the first floor of the stage building of the as yet unexcavated theatre are still in place. The gradient of the cavea is 30 degrees. The stage building is 13 feet wide. The radius of the orchestra is 30 feet. Judging by the diameter of the orchestra the stage building must have been 39 feet and six inches high. The vaulted passages opening onto the central walkway from two directions are sound.
The theatre has a seating capacity of approximately 3,400 people.
