Aizanoi ( Azanoi) Theatre

Aizanoi theatre is 1,019 meters above sea level and faces south. It is a theatre with two echelons and 22 seating rows can be counted in the first echelon. The number of seating rows in the second echelon could be 12. The stones of the seating benches in this theatre are quite long. On average, they are 13 feet long. The steps of the radial walkways are carved after the benches have been cut. The row ends are decorated with lions’ claws. The sidewalls of the vaulted entrances opening onto the central walkway have survived until today. The orchestra has a radius of 56 feet and four inches. This makes it the second largest theatre in Turkey after Ephesus in terms of orchestra radius. It is made to seat approximately 5,500 people.
